WORK EXPERIENCE IN DETAIL
Current activity
Since July 2005 I have been working as a freelance translator, offering linguistic solutions to translation agencies and direct clients.
Citrix Systems
As a Spanish technical linguist at Citrix, I was involved in the localisation of their 2005 product releases.
Tasks included software application translation and resizing; online help system translation and compilation; documentation translation and DTP (guides, booklets, etc.); and software testing.
SDL International
Within SDL, I worked for SDL Agency, a department which specialised in fast-turnaround translation. I started as a trainee in 2002 and then went to being Associate Line Manager of the Spanish department, which at the time consisted of eight European and Latin American translators.
Apart from translating and reviewing, my tasks included allocating all jobs internally and externally, interfacing with freelancers, maintaining terminology, managing queries and mentoring trainees.
Main translation subjects: IT/computing, technology, networks/telecommunications, content management, eCommerce, manufacturing, marketing (newsletters, press releases), advertising, electronics, corporate information (demos, educational material), telephony, games and multimedia.
Pink Noise
I worked for Pink Noise (one of the biggest game localisation providers in Spain) as a trainee translator and reviewer in 2001-2002. Tasks included translation and review of in-game screen text, scripts and manuals.
